Bob Smith
Water Colourist, Art Teacher
Art Consultant

Bob Smith is a Watercolourist, born in Melbourne,Victoria, but now living in Port Macquarie NSW. He has travelled extensively throughout Australia, recording man's struggle to come to terms with the Australian environment.
His subject matter ranges from outback mining towns, farms, deserts, city and suburban life, coastal and mountain areas. The works are not just landscapes, they include man's imprint in some form.
Bob is interested in form, texture, light and atmosphere, painting in a style best described as expressive realism. He works mainly in watercolor, although he does use pastels, or a variety of mixed media, as well.
The works feature strong drawing qualities and are approached more as portraits than as landscapes.
"The expressive qualities of the subject developing the character of the painting, rather than as a      landscape."
Recently Bob has painted extensively in Britain and particularly Mediterranean Europe, where the light and subject matter have well suited his style of painting, treating the subject matter similarly to his Australian works.
Many of these recent pictures are featured on this site.
